I took a giant leap last month!
As my friends and family may know, I have been operating as the Pine Island brewery owner and working full time as an Accountant for the entirety of 2015. That kind of makes me like Batman, right? Accountant by day, brewery owner by night? Anybody?
Well that’s kind of a stretch but it has been an experience (and to be honest, exhausting) living the double life since I started building the brewery back in February of 2015.
But I am happy to report that last month, I decided that it was time to end my lifelong dream (sarcasm) of being an Accountant to settle down as the full time brewery Owner and Operator of Pine Island Brewing Company (yay!). Since we opened in late October, I have been thrilled by the response of the local community here in Warwick, NY and so appreciative of the reaction from my home community back around North Haledon, NJ. It has exceeded expectations and reached a point where it would be impossible to maintain the brewery while working full time at another job. So, again, thank you so much for all of the support!
Looking back on this chapter of my life, I realize how thankful I am for the skills that I have learned as a CPA these past five years (has it really been that long!?). My Accounting skills have been my raft as I attempt to navigate the rapids in my ride down the river of owning Pine Island Brewing Company.
Even though countless hours of thought and preparation have gone into this decision, it is both scary and exhilarating to take this step. But I know that I am ready. I am ready to really get Pine Island Brewing Company firing on all cylinders!
Anyone want to come celebrate my birthday with me this Sunday the 17th?
Take a selfie with the Pine Island Brewing sign (or me!) in the tap house and post it on Facebook or Instagram this Sunday to wish me a Happy Birthday! We’ll also give you half off of a Pine Island Brewing flight in the taproom if you tag #PineIslandBeer.
